During the discussion of social injustices was brought up in a Highschool french class. Our three founders, Rand, Shanelle, and Pia, were quick to lead the conversation. From talking about the #BlackLivesMatter Movement during the spring and summer of 2020 to the Asian Hate Crime arising from the COVID-19 Virus to how a plastic disposable mask can harm animals. Thus, Lead The Convo started on October 15 of 2020.
Lead The Convo is a non-profit organization based in Toronto that welcomes all to join the community. With the mission to use our platforms to lead the discussion for youth and others. We want to provide information and tools for the future generation to have knowledgeable conversations about social issues happening worldwide. Our goal is to shine a light on social issues that aren’t being covered in the news and media. A greater understanding of knowledge is essential for students to understand and interpret each other.
We Charity empowers people of all ages to make a difference, both domestically and internationally, through programs like WE Schools and WE Villages. ME to WE is an innovative social enterprise that creates socially conscious products and expereinces that enable people to change lives through their everyday choices.
The LA Promise Fund is a unique hybrid, operating programs in partnership with Los Angeles Unified School District at two traditional, comprehensive high schools and a middle school, as well as operating two charter schools in South LA. Further amplifying its impact, the LA Promise Fund runs high profile, far-reaching programs and engagement opportunities available to students and teachers across Los Angeles County. This structure allows for both high touch, intensive supports on school sites, inside and outside of the traditional district system, while also serving students through high profile, innovative programs that are available to students countywide.
Friends of the Earth Action provides extra political muscle on legislative battles here in the U.S. to our sister organization, Friends of the Earth, which is part of a network of affiliates in 76 nations around the world. Friends of the Earth Action and its affiliated PAC make thoughtful political endorsements, provide direct support to candidates and place environmentalists in the field on critical campaigns
MAPB formed to unite mothers who have lost their children to police violence. Every year families lose children and other loved ones to police killings. An alarmingly disproportionate number of African American and Hispanic men killed by policemen are unarmed. In virtually every case, officers that kill unarmed Black and Brown men are never charged with a crime.
Youth Forward is dedicated to supporting disadvantaged youth and youth of color through policy advocacy, education and community action. In addition to its own policy work, Youth Forward assists other organizations with strategic support in the areas of youth organizing, policy research, and organizational development. Youth Forward is committed to supporting youth voice and youth/adult partnerships and as such, recently added young adults to its board directors.
